::ISLAMIC JIHAD, EXPLAINED::

In the name of Allah, Most Gratious and the Most Mercyful
[May Allah grant us all proper understanding; A'ameen]

::ISLAMIC JIHAD, EXPLAINED::
==========================
The concept of jihad is one of the most misconstrued aspects of Islamic doctrine in the world today. Not only by Western society and its media, but also by some pseudo-Muslim radical elements who have popularized it to mean holy war. As a result, Islam is erroneously and unjustly labeled as a religion that advocates violence and terrorism.

In the linguistic sense, the Arabic word "jihad" means struggling or striving and applies to any effort exerted by anyone. In this sense, a student struggles and strives to get an education and pass course work; an employee strives to fulfill his/her job and maintain good relations with his/her employer; a politician strives to maintain or increase his (1) popularity with his constituents and so on. The term strive or struggle may be used for/by Muslims as well as non-Muslims.

In the West, "jihad" is generally translated as "holy war," a usage the media has popularized. According to Islamic teachings, it is unholy to instigate or start war; however, some wars are inevitable and justifiable. If we translate the words "holy war" back into Arabic, we find "harbun muqaddasatu," or for "the holy war," "al-harbu al-muqaddasatu." We challenge any researcher or scholar to find the meaning of "jihad" as holy war in the Noble Qur'an or authentic Hadith collections or in early Islamic literature. Unfortunately, some Muslim writers and translators of the Qur'an, the Hadith and other Islamic literature translate the term "jihad" as "holy war," due to the influence of centuries-old Western propaganda. This could be a reflection of the Christian use of the term "Holy War" to refer to the Crusades of a thousand years ago. However, the Arabic words for "war" are "harb" or "qital," which are found in the Noble Qur'an and Hadith.

Categories of Jihad:
==================

1. Jihad-e-Akbar: Jihad of the Highest Order
----------------------------------------------------------

a. Jihad an-Nafs or Struggle against ones own Nafs or Desires:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the jihad of self-reformation, and the struggle is against human vices, such as greed and lust, and all worldly enticements that are contrary to Islamic principles. This jihad reflects the journey of an individual from an ‘animalistic’ state of existence, which is living for immediate gratification or gain, to one where the psyche is disciplined enough to exercise moral control. The Muslim is expected to strive hard to learn correct Islamic instruction and to put those teachings into effect every day. Jihad an-Nafs calls for compelling oneself to observe obligatory and voluntary duties, and abandon all things that are haram (forbidden) or makrooh (disliked) as mandated in the Qur'an. It also includes compelling oneself to conduct all of one's affairs with excellent disposition and the highest level of ethics.
According to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), “The most excellent type of jihad is to practice jihad against your own self and own desires for the sake of Allah.” [At-Tirmidhi]
All forms of worship in Islam, such as prayers, fasting and charity, exist as means of purifying and perfecting the soul - this is the essence of mankind, and the element that will outlast this life and be judged in the next. It is only in the upward development of the soul that mankind will find happiness in this life and in the hereafter. The Qur'an states:
“And by the soul and Him Who perfected it, then showed it what is right and what is wrong for it—indeed, he succeeds who purifies his soul, and, indeed, he fails who corrupts his soul.” [Qur'an 91:7]

b. Jihad ash-Shaytaan or Struggle against Evil (Satan):
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the struggle against Satan, and it involves defending oneself from his evil whisperings, temptations and lustfulness. One should understand that Satan's promptings will never cease, as a result, this is a struggle to last throughout one’s life. The Qur’an states:
“Verily Satan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents,that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire.” [Qur’an 35:6]

2. Jihad-e-Kabir: Major Jihad
==========================

a. Jehad al-daawah or Jehad al Ziqr or Verbal Jihad:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the jihad that calls for the propagation of the true and unadulterated message of the Qur’an. Muslims are required to become involved in da'wah (spreading the message of Islam), and to do so with patience, wisdom, tolerance and respect of others and their own beliefs. Propagating the true message of Islam is not only to enlighten non-Muslims, but also to correct mistaken beliefs among Muslims. However, the goal and intention of da’wah to non-Muslims is simply to convey the message of Islam - it is not to have or make them convert Islam. Muslims are prohibited from using any form of coercion or force in this endeavor. The Qur’an states:

“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.” [Qur’an 2:256]

b. Jihad ahlu ath-Thulm or Struggle Against Evil, Injustice and Innovations:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the struggle against evil (al-Munkaraat), injustice (ath-Thulm) and those who corrupt Islam and society with heretic ideas or innovation (al-Bida'ah). It calls for Muslims to speak up against evil-doing, oppression and tyranny, and to help safeguard the well-being of all people regardless of race, gender, nationality or religion. Furthermore, this jihad calls for removing treacherous people from power and replacing them with those who will be just and equitable. In addition, those who devote their time, talent, wealth or knowledge to the cause of righteousness are also said to be practicing Verbal Jihad.

c. Jihad al-Kuffar or Struggle against Disbeliever’s and Hypocrites:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the struggle against disbelievers (kuffar) and al-Munafiqeen (hypocrites). It is accomplished at four levels: with the heart, the tongue, one's wealth and one's soul. This jihad is usually practiced with the tongue by verbally refuting misguided ways and conveying the true message of Islam. According to the Prophet (peace be upon him):
"Perform Jihad against the disbelievers with your wealth, with yourself and with your tongues." [Abu Dawud]
"He amongst you who witnesses an evil, let him change (remove, stop) it with his hand. If unable, then with his tongue, and if unable, then with his heart, and this indeed is the weakest Iman." [Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, Muslim]
And the Qur’an states:
"But strive hard against them (the Kuffar), (by preaching) with the utmost endeavor, with it (ie. the Qur'an)" [Qur'an 25:52]
“O Prophet! Strive hard against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed).” [Qur’an 66:9]
“Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.” [Qur’an 4:76]

d. Jihad al-Haq or Jihad for ones Rites:
-------------------------------------------------
This comprises of all the effort (through actions) one makes in order to establish rightiousness and fulfillment of ones rites upon him/her self. For example -- a person working hard in order to earn for honest living, is his/her jehad for livelihood or earning.
A person taking care of his/her family and fulfilling there legitimate needs, is a jehad.
A student making efforts for education or to gain some knowledge, is a jehad.
A person councelling his/her children against the sins and evils of society, is a jehad to establishment of rightiousness.
A person being obedient and dutyful to ones parents, is a jehad to fulfill the rites of ones parents upon the one.
Allah declares in the Qur'an:
"As for those who strive (Jahadu) in Us (the cause of Allah), We surely guide them to Our paths, and lo! Allah is with the good doers."
(The Holy Quran, 29:69)
When we are faced with two competing interests, it becomes jihad to choose the right one, as the following Hadith exemplify:
"Aisha, wife of the Prophet(S) asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, we see jihad as the best of deeds, so shouldn't we join it?' He replied, 'But the best of jihad is a perfect Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah).'"
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, No. 2784)
At another occasion, a man asked the Prophet Muhammad(S):
"'Should I join the jihad?' He asked, 'Do you have parents?' The man said, 'Yes!' The Prophet(S) said, 'Then strive by serving them!'"
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, No. 5972)
Yet another man asked the Messenger of Allah(S):
"'What kind of jihad is better?' He replied, 'A word of truth in front of an oppressive ruler!'" (Sunan Al-Nasa'i , No. 4209)

The Messenger of Allah(S) said:
"...the Mujahid (one who carries out jihad) is he who strives against himself for the sake of Allah, and the Muhajir (one who emigrates) is he who abandons evil deeds and sin."
(Sahih Ibn Hibbanm, No. 4862)
Thus we can say that- each and every legitimate effort made by a person in order get his/her rites to live ones life rightiously; each and every legitimate effort made by a person to accomplish and fulfill the rites of others upon him/her; and every legitimate effort made for the establishment of justice and rightiousness in society, is a form of JEHAD.

3. Jihad-e-Asghar : Jihad of the Lower Order.
===============================

a. Jihad al-Qital or Military or Combat Jihad:
----------------------------------------------------------
This is the jihad of DEFENSIVE battle and represents the most misinterpreted category of jihad by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. It is used by some pseudo-Muslim radical elements and anti-Islamists to contend that Islam promotes and rewards offensive warfare. But the correct interpretation is that this jihad represents the legitimate struggle to defend human rights, families, personal and religious freedoms, land and property. Islam forbids Muslims to be initiators or aggressors, but it permits them to defend themselves when necessary. Hence, the battle can only be defensive, and not an offensive action. The Qur’an issues this decree as follows:
“Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.” [Qur’an 2:190]
One of the authentic Hadits regarding Jehad is as--
SAHIH AL BUKHARI: Volume 1, Book 3, Number 125 :
Narrated by Abu Musa:: A man came to the Prophet and asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What kind of fighting is in Allah's cause? (I ask this), for some of us fight because of being enraged and angry and some for the sake of his pride and haughtiness." The Prophet raised his head (as the questioner was standing) and said, "He who fights so that Allah's Word (Islam) should be superior, then he fights in Allah's cause."
IN ISLAM, THE POURPOSE OF ANY BATTLE IS TO RESTORE PEACE AND NOT TO PROMOTE VIOLENCE. When engaging in battle, Islam commands Muslims to be fair and just; not to harm or kill women, children, the elderly and unarmed civilians; not to terrify civilians; and not to employ unnecessary excessive force. The Qur’an has provided the circumstances under which defensive warfare is permissible; and Muslims are strictly forbidden from transgressing these parameters.

Military or Combat Jihad is only permitted:

--> to defend a peoples’ homeland and fellow citizens against any invaders;

-- > to provide help and support to those who are oppressed and unable to exercise their own will and freedom of choice;

--> when Muslims are subjected to aggressive oppression, in the practice of their religion, and there are actual threats to their lives; and

--> when Muslims have been driven out of their homes. In such cases, the Qur'an recommends that they migrate to a more peaceful and tolerant society. However, if relocation is not possible, and there are actual threats to their lives, they can resort to defensive action. The Qur’an states:
“Permission [to fight] is given to those against whom war is being wrongfully and offensively waged, and surely Allah is able to give them victory. Those who have been expelled from their homes unjustly, only because they said, 'Our Lord is Allah…” [Qur’an 22: 39-40]

AND

“Fight against aggressors until oppression is stopped.” [Qur'an 2:193]

Thus in true sense-- if a Muslim attacks a weak non-Muslim and ceases his properties, another Muslim fights against the Muslim who attacked, in order to guard the rites and property of the non-Muslim, will sure be considered as a jehad.

Islamic Rules for Defensive Battle:
--------------------------------------------
According to Islamic injunction, the following comprise what Muslims can or cannot carry out in the event of a battle:

i) civilians who are not fighting against Muslims are not to be attacked or killed;

ii) crops, other sources of food, water and cattle or other animals are not to be destroyed;

iii) hospitals, orphanages and other places of safety and refuge are not to be destroyed;

iv) Mosques, Churches, Synagogues or other places of worship are not to be destroyed;

v) women, children, the elderly and the disabled are not to be harmed;

vi) if the aggressor stops the aggression or offers a treaty it should be accepted and the fighting stopped immediately;

vii) fleeing oppressors are not to be pursued to unnecessary extents and should be allowed to return to their home; and
viii) prisoners of war should be treated with respect and have their basic needs fulfilled, and they should be freed or ransomed as soon as possible after the battle.

In a nutshell, the true nature of jihad in Islam constitutes various levels of struggles and efforts in the cause and for the sake of Allah (SWT). The struggle between good and evil, truth and falsehood will forever remain a constant in the life of this world. Engaging in jihad means dedicating one’s physical, intellectual and spiritual resources to stay on the path of truth and righteousness; in the hope of gaining Allah's good pleasure by making His Word prevail in and through the life of all grateful believers.

AND ALLAH KNOWS THE BEST.

::ISLAM ON RACISM AND BIGOTRY::

::ISLAM ON RACISM AND BIGOTRY::
========================

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Islam is against all forms of racism and bigotry. Racism is the belief that one race is superior to another, or one color of skin is superior to another, or the people of one country are superior to another. Such beliefs are the characteristic of pre-Islamic ignorance (jahiliyyah). In Islam, we believe all races are equal to Allah and the only characteristic that makes someone superior to another is righteousness (taqwa).
Allah has dignified all of the children of Adam, all human beings and all races in the world.
Allah says:
"We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with definite preference."
[Qur'an 17:70]

Allah created different races and tribes so that different peoples would recognize each other and learn from each other, not so that the races would fight each other.
Allah says:
"O mankind, verily, We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Verily, Allah is knowing and aware."
[Qur'an 49:13]

Righteousness is the only thing that makes someone virtuous in the sight of Allah, not race or skin color or lineage or country. This teaching against racism was delivered by the Prophet during his farewell sermon, indicating how important he believed it was to the message of Islam.
Abu Nadrah reported: I heard the farewell sermon of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said:
"O people, verily, your Lord is one and your father Adam is one. There is no favoritism of an Arab over a foreigner, nor a foreigner over an Arab, and neither red skin over black skin, nor black skin over red skin, except through righteousness. Have I not conveyed the message?"
[Source: Musnad Ahmad 22978, Grade: Sahih]

The Prophet would rebuke his companions if they ever denigrated people because of their race.
Abu Umamah reported: Abu Dharr reproached Bilal about his mother, saying, “O son of a black woman!” So Bilal went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he told him what he said. The Prophet became angry and then Abu Dharr came although he was unaware of what Bilal told him. The Prophet turned away from him and Abu Dharr asked, “O Messenger of Allah, have you turned away because of something you have been told?” The Prophet said:
"Have you reproached Bilal about his mother?"
Then the Prophet said:
"By the one who revealed the Book to Muhammad, none is more virtuous over another except by righteous deeds. You have none but an insignificant amount."
[Source: Shu’b Al-Iman Al-Bayhaqi 4760, Grade: Sahih]

Boasting about lineage and ancestors is forbidden in Islam, for such people are held in contempt by Allah just as people are revolted by the beetle that rolls dung.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"There are certainly people who brag about their ancestors who have died. Verily, they are coal for Hellfire such that they are more contemptible to Allah than the beetle that rolls dung with its nose. Verily, Allah has removed from you the pride of the time of ignorance with its boasting about ancestors. Verily, either one is a believer who fears Allah or a miserable sinner. The people are all the children of Adam, and Adam was created from dust."
[Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3955, Grade: Hasan]

Likewise, tribalism (al-asabiyyah) is forbidden in Islam, which is the fanatical adherence to ethnic loyalty even when it leads to oppression and injustice. The Prophet disavowed himself and Islam from anyone who acts according to the ideologies of tribalism.
Jubair ibn Mut’im reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism."
[Source: Sunan Abu Dawud 5102, Grade: Hasan]

Malcolm X, also known as Al-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was a famous African-American activist who struggled with the problem of race in America. At first, he embraced a path of extremism in his confrontation with white supremacy, but his heart changed when he performed his Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. In Mecca, he saw white, black, red, and all kinds of people joining the Hajj as one brotherhood. He wrote back to his friends in Harlem, saying:
"America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, and even eaten with people who in America would have been considered white, but the white attitude was removed from their minds by the religion of Islam. I have never before seen sincere and true brotherhood practiced by all colors together, irrespective of their color.
During the past eleven days here in the Muslim world, I have eaten from the same plate, drunk from the same glass, and slept on the same rug, while praying to the same God, with fellow Muslims, whose eyes were the bluest of blue, whose hair was the blondest of blond, and whose skin was the whitest of white. And in the words and in the deeds of the white Muslims, I felt the same sincerity that I felt among the black African Muslims of Nigeria, Sudan and Ghana.
We were truly all the same, because their belief in one God had removed the white from their minds, the white from their behavior, and the white from their attitude. I could see from this, that perhaps if white Americans could accept the Oneness of God, then perhaps, too, they could accept in reality the Oneness of Man, and cease to measure and hinder and harm others in terms of their differences in color."
[Source: Malcolm X’s Letter from Mecca]

Muslims must spread the message of Islam to the peoples of the earth who still suffer from racism and tribal bigotry. Even among some Muslims, the scourge of racism exists and causes harm among communities. The only way to completely eradicate racism is to embrace the oneness of Allah (tawheed) and to accept its logical conclusion, the oneness of humanity.

Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.

::VIRTUES OF THE BLESSED MONTH OF RAMADAN::

::VIRTUES OF THE BLESSED MONTH OF RAMADAN::
===========================================
[In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, the Specially Merciful]

Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is an obligation upon every Muslim who is sane, adult, and capable. A child should be ordered to fast if he can tolerate it.
Fasting becomes obligatory when one of three things occur: the completion of the thirty days of the month of Sha’ban, the sighting of the crescent moon, or the presence of clouds on the thirtieth night of Sha’ban that prevents its sighting.

Allah the Exalted says:
"O you who believe, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous, for a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey, then an equal number of days to be made up. Upon those who are in hardship, a substitute of feeding a poor person. Whoever volunteers excess, it is better for him, but to fast is best for you, if you only knew. The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights the month, let him fast it. Whoever is ill or on a journey, then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and He intends for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that to which He has guided you, for perhaps you will be grateful."
[Qur'an 2:183-185]

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Allah said: All the deeds of the children of Adam are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.
Fasting is a shield. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid intimate relations with his wife and arguments. If somebody should fight or argue with him, he should say: I am fasting. By Him in whose hand is my soul, the unpleasant smell coming from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast and the other when he meets his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1805, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi]

In another narration, the Holy Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Allah says: He has left his food, drink, and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me, so I will reward him for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied by ten like it."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1795, Grade: Sahih]

In another narration, the Beloved Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied from ten to seven hundred times. Allah the Exalted says: Fasting is different, for verily, it is done for Me and I will reward it. The fasting person leaves his food and drink, but he is joyous on two occasions: the first is at the time of breaking his fast, and the second is at the time of meeting his Lord. The breath of the fasting person is better to Allah than the fragrance of musk."
[Source: Sahih Muslim 1151, Grade: Sahih]

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, saying:
"Anyone who spends a pair in the cause of Allah will be called from all the gates of Paradise: O servant of Allah, this is good! The people of prayer will be called from the gate of prayer, the people of struggle will be called from the gate of struggle, the people of charity will be called from the gate of charity, and the people of fasting will be called from the gate of fasting, called the gate of Ar-Rayyan.

Abu Bakr said, “One who is called from all those gates will need nothing. Will anyone be called from all those gates, O Messenger of Allah?”

The Holy Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Yes, and I hope you will be among them, O Abu Bakr."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 3466, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi]

Sahl ibn Sa’eed reported: The Messenger of Mercy, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Verily, there is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Rayyan which only those who fasted will enter on the Day of Resurrection. No one else will enter it along with them. It will be said: Where are those who used to fast so that they may enter? When the last of them enter, it will be closed and no one else will enter through it."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1797, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi]

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"There is no servant who fasts a day in the way of Allah except that Allah will distance his face from the Hellfire by a distance of seventy years of travel."
[Source: Sahih Muslim 1153, Grade: Sahih]

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, then Allah will forgive all of his previous sins. Whoever stands in prayer during the Night of Decree out of faith and seeking reward, then Allah will forgive all of his previous sins."
[Source: Sahih Muslim 760, Grade: Sahih]

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
"When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1800, Grade: Sahih]

Ibn Abbas, razi'Allahu anho, said:
"The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most generous of the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel visited him. Gabriel, upon him be peace, would meet with him every night of Ramadan until the end of the month. The Prophet would recite the Qur'an to Gabriel. When Gabriel met him, he would be more generous than a swift wind bringing rain."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1803, Grade: Sahih]

Aisha, razi'Allahu anha, said:
"During the last ten nights of Ramadan, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would tighten his belt and spend the night in worship, and he would wake up his family."
[Source: Sahih Bukhari 1920, Grade: Sahih]

An-Nawawi said:
"Our companions said that being generous and performing favors are highly recommended during Ramadan, specifically during the last ten nights. By doing so, we emulate the example of the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, as well as our pious predecessors. This month is honored and good works carried out in this month are more blessed than they are at any other time.

THE FIRST MEAL IN JANNAH

THE FIRST MEAL IN JANNAH <3

Narrated Anas:
When `Abdullah bin Salam heard the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him at Medina, he came to him and said, "I am going to ask you about three things which nobody knows except a prophet: What is the first portent of the Hour? What will be the first meal taken by the people of Paradise? Why does a child resemble its father, and why does it resemble its maternal uncle" Allah's Messenger said, "Gabriel has just now told me of their answers." `Abdullah said, "He (i.e. Gabriel), from amongst all the angels, is the enemy of the Jews." Allah's Messenger said, "The first portent of the Hour will be a fire that will bring together the people from the east to the west; the first meal of the people of Paradise will be Extra-lobe (caudate lobe) of fish-liver. As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble the father, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her." On that `Abdullah bin Salam said, "I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah(GOD)." `Abdullah bin Salam further said, "O Allah's Messenger ! The Jews are liars, and if they should come to know about my conversion to Islam before you ask them (about me), they would tell a lie about me." The Jews came to Allah's Messenger and `Abdullah went inside the house. Allah's Apostle asked (the Jews), "What kind of man is `Abdullah bin Salam amongst you?" They replied, "He is the most learned person amongst us, and the best amongst us, and the son of the best amongst us." Allah's Messenger said, "What do you think if he embraces Islam (will you do as he does)?" The Jews said, "May Allah save him from it." Then `Abdullah bin Salam came out in front of them saying, "I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah." Thereupon they said, "He is the evilest among us, and the son of the evilest amongst us," and continued talking badly of him.

Sahih al-Bukhari hadith 3329

It is proven in the saheeh Sunnah that the first food offered to welcome the people of Paradise when they enter it will be “the caudate lobe of whale liver”. That is mentioned in the hadeeth of Thawbaan, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), according to which one of the Jewish rabbis came to ask the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about some matters to test him. In the hadeeth it says:

The Jewish man said: What will be presented to them first when they enter Paradise?

He said: “Caudate lobe of whale liver.”

He said: What food will be given to them after that?

He said: “The bull of Paradise, which used to graze along its edges, will be slaughtered for them.”

He said: What will their drink be?

He said: “From a spring there that is called Salsabeel.”

Narrated by Muslim, 315

Imam an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The words “What will be presented to them” refer to that with which a man is welcomed. Ibraaheem al-Halabi said: It is usually good quality fruits.

End quote from Sharh Muslim, 3/227

He also said:

This refers to a whale, according to scholarly consensus… As for the caudate lobe of the liver, this is a separate piece that is attached to the liver and it is the best part of it.

End quote from Sharh Muslim, 17/135-136

That is also proven in other saheeh hadeeths in as-Saheehayn and as-Sunan. We quoted this particular hadeeth because of what it contains of differentiating between the first food presented to the people of Paradise, which is the caudate lobe of fish liver, and the food that they will eat after that, which is the meat of the “bull of Paradise”.

We could not find anything to indicate the wisdom behind the caudate lobe of whale liver being the first food presented to the people of Paradise, but we believe that Allah’s wisdom is great and that Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, is the All-Knowing, Most Wise, and that He said of Himself (interpretation of the meaning):

“And your Lord creates whatsoever He wills and chooses, no choice have they (in any matter). Glorified be Allah, and exalted above all that they associate as partners (with Him)”

[al-Qasas 28:68].

"15th Of Sha'baan - The Most Confusing Topic Of Islam"

"15th Of Sha'baan - The Most Confusing Topic Of Islam"

Each year, a fair amount of fussing and fighting takes place over this issue. Yet the truth of the matter is that scholars have long-held this issue to be one over which there is a valid difference of opinion. The first group considered the night to have no specific virtues over and above any other night of the year, and believed that singling the night out for extra acts of worship is unsanctioned. Another group begged to differ and held that the middle night of Sha'ban does possess special merits and should be earmarked for extra prayers and devotion.

。Firstly :

Many Scholars like "Syed Faiz" and others believe that the Name given to this night "Shab E Barat" means "The Night of Hatred" and also that this name has no basis in Islam !

Whereas other scholars differ and say that the name which is “Shab-e-Bara’ah” i.e. “the night of freedom/salvation/forgiveness” meaning of this Night is "The Night of Forgiveness" But since there is a difference of opinion among the scholars and also that this name has no authentication from the Quran and Sunnah thus we should avoid using the Name "Shab e Barat" for this Night.

。Secondly :

Matters of ordainment for the mankind are not decreed on 15th of shaban !

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ

“We sent it down on a blessed night. Verily, We are ever warning.”
(Aayah No’s 1 to 3, Surah Ad-Dukhan, Chapter No. 44, Holy Qur’an).

In above mentioned verses, Almighty Allah is informing us about the night in which He sent down His Book (i.e. Holy Qur’an), and that night has been termed as a ‘blessed night’.

From other verse of Holy Qur’an we know that Qur’an was revealed in the month of Ramadan:

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an…”
(Aayah No. 185, Surah Al-Baqarah, Chapter No. 2, Holy Qur’an).
We further know that the Holy Qur’an was revealed in the ‘Night of Al-Qadr':

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

“Verily, We have sent it (the Qur’an) down in the night of Al-Qadr.”
(Aayah No. 1, Surah Al-Qadr, Chapter No. 97, Holy Qur’an).
So, we know that the Holy Qur’an was revealed in the month of Ramadan on the night of Al-Qadr.
Thus, the blessed night discussed in Verse No. 3 of Surah Ad-Dukhan (Chapter No. 44 of Holy Qur’an) is the night of Al-Qadr.
Having understood this, let us go back to Surah Ad-Dukhan and continue from where we had left:

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

“Therein (in that blessed night) is decreed every matter of ordainments,”

أَمْراً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

“As a Command from Us. Verily, We are ever sending,”
(Aayah No’s 4 & 5, Surah Ad-Dukhan, Chapter No. 44, Holy Qur’an).

and,

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

“The ‘Night of Al-Qadr’ is better than a thousand months.”

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

“Therein descend the angels and the Ruh by their Lord’s permission with every matter (every/all Decrees).”
(Aayah No’s 3 & 4, Surah Ad-Dukhan, Chapter No. 44, Holy Qur’an).

Thus, angels descend in abundance during the night of Al-Qadr. In this night, the matters are decided by Almighty Allah, and the decrees are transferred from ‘Al-Lawh Al-Mahfooz’ to the angels who write down the decrees of coming year (in order to do the execution of the ordainments) including the life spans, provisions and all what that shall happen until the end of that year (till next night of Al-Qadr).

Based on all this information, it is clear that matters of ordainment for the mankind are decreed in the night of Al-Qadr which falls in the month of Ramadan. This should also be understood from the name of the night itself (‘Qadr’ is an Arabic word which means ‘decree / destiny’ etc.). The night of 15 Shaban has got nothing to do with it.

。Thirdly :

All the Ahadith that describe the "Fazeelat of Mid shabaan" are either "Mafroo" or "Daeef". Here are some of the Daeef Ahadith which are Attributed to this Night :

Aishah (RA) narrated: I could not find Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) one night. So I left & found him at Al-Baqi (the graveyard near Prophet’s masjid in Al-Madinah). He said, “Did you fear you had been wronged by Allah and His Messenger (PBUH)?” I said, “O Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)! I thought that you had gone to one of your wives.” So he said, “Indeed Allah, Mighty & Sublime is He, descends to the lowest Heavens during the night of middle of Shaban to grant forgiveness to more than the number of hair on the sheep of (Banu) Kalb.”

(Hadith No. 739, Chapters on Fasting, Jami’ At-Tirmidhi, Vol. 2; Hadith No. 1389, Chapters of Establishing the Prayers & the Sunnah regarding them, Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 2).

and,

It was narrated that Ali bin Abu Talib (RA) said: Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, “When it is the night of the middle of Shaban, spend its night in prayer and observe fast on that day, for Allah descends at sunset on that night to the lowest heaven and says: Is there no one who will ask Me for provision, that I may provide for him? Is there no one who is afflicted by trouble, that I may relieve him?, and so on, until dawn comes.”

(Hadith No. 1388, Chapters of Establishing the Prayers & the Sunnah regarding them, Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 2).

But Many people believe that these Ahadith are Daeef but they are "Ahadith" !!

。Thirdly :

Ibn Taimiyyah was asked about praying on 15th of Shabaan And He replied :

As for the 15th Night of Shabaan, there are many Narrations and Athar (Quotes from the Sahabah) regarding its virtue. It has been reported of this night that the salaf prayed in this Night. Therefore, Praying alone on this night, having precedence in the salaf is sufficient evidence and something of this kind surely cannot be denied.
[Fatawa Ibn Taymiyyah, majmua al fatawa volume no. 23 page no. 132]

So we cannot deny the fact that salaf us saliheen did spend the Night in prayer but most of the scholars have the opinion that people should not specify thi Night as it comes under "Bid'dah"

。Fourthly :

Fasting on the 15th of Shabaan :

According to Sahih Muslim

2607.'Imran b. Husain (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) having said to him or to someone else: Did you fast in the middle of Sha'ban? He said: No. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: If you did not observe fast, then you should observe fast for two days.2608.Imran b. Husain (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Allah's Apostle (way peace heupon him) said. to a person: Did you observe any fast in the middle of this month (Sha'ban)? He said: No. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Fast for two days instead of (one fast) when you have completed (fasts of) Ramadan.

But Most of the Scholars believe that singling out 15th of shabaan for fasting is BID'DAH so one should fast the lunar days i.e 13, 14 or 15 or Mondays or Thursdays if the 15th shabaan falls on monday or thursday !

。Fifthly :

There is no celebration or fireworks prescribed in Sharee'ah for this Night,

Doing fireworks etc. as a mark of celebration is not a good idea at all, even if it is done for some other occasion. Spending in fireworks and firecrackers means we spend handsome amounts of money in these activities. All such expenditure is a waste of one’s money and amounts to ‘Israf’, or may be even ‘Tabzir’ (please refer to a detailed article titled ‘Extravagance';

。Sixthly:

The Souls do not visit the living world on 15th of sha'baan ! It is just a false belief !

After death, the soul of the dead is kept in either ‘Illiyeen’ (if it is a good soul) or in ‘Sijjeen’ (if it is a bad soul). Allah creates a barrier (the ‘barzakh’) between this world and the Hereafter (thereby a barrier between the departed souls and this world). The dead souls can never visit this world till the ‘Day of Resurrection’.
Hence, the belief that dead souls visit the earth on the night of 15 Shaban and we should visit the graveyards during that night is wrong, and all the rituals associated with such a belief are Bida’a
(i.e. an innovation).

。Conclusion :

The conclusion can be summarized as below:
It is wrong and against the teachings of Qur’an to believe that matters of ordainments are decreed by Allah on the night of 15 Shaban. In fact, such matters are decreed on the night of Al-Qadr (which falls in the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan).
It is immature understanding if one believes that Allah descends down to lowest of the heavens on the night of 15 Shaban only. The fact is that Allah descends down to lowest of the heavens every night.

It is wrong to believe that dead souls visit the earth in the night of 15 Shaban and hence we should visit graveyards on this occasion. All rituals associated with such a belief are Bida’a.
Singling out the night of 15 Shaban for performing voluntary prayers and the day of 15 Shaban for fasting is an act of Bida’a.
Doing fireworks etc. on 15 Shaban as a mark of celebrations is not an Islamic practice; it leads to extravagance, and should be avoided completely.

But In Terms of Ibadah, there is a difference of opinion between scholars so we cant Prohibit doing Ibadah on this Night or fasting on this day but it is better to Fast the lunar days to be on a safer side.

And Allah knows Best.

May Allah Forgive me if I am wrong and Guide us on the Right Path. Ameen.

SKIPPING "DUPATTA" AND WEARING SLEEVELESS - A SIGN OF MODERNISM OR IMMODESTY?

SKIPPING "DUPATTA" AND WEARING SLEEVELESS - A SIGN OF MODERNISM OR IMMODESTY?

That Old Days of wearing A Dupatta Or Scarf on head have come to an end ! Nowadays Women skip their Scarfs in order to look more attractive but they forget that

"Modesty is what makes you Beautiful" !!

And The Saddest Part is The Fathers, the Husbands and the Brothers of such women dont even care to advice or scold them on wearing such exposed clothes while going out !

"O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded." (66:6)

I wonder what such Women gain by wearing such clothes?

*A Bunch of Praising Sentences?
*A thousands of staring eyes which makes them feel beautiful?

*But What about Akhirah?

*What will be their Answer when they will be Questioned By Allah?

Now I knew Why Our Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam Ordered us to Marry A Righteous Woman !

This hadeeth was narrated by al-Bukhaari (4802) and Muslim (1466) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who said: “A woman may be married for four things: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty and her religious commitment. Seek the one who is religiously-committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper).”

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Sharh Muslim:

The correct view concerning the meaning of this hadeeth is that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spoke of what people usually do, for they seek these four characteristics, the last of which in their view is religious commitment, but you who are seeking to follow the right way should seek the one who is religiously committed.  This is not a command to do so… This hadeeth encourages us to seek the company of religiously-committed people in all things, because the one who keeps company with them will benefit from their good attitude and good ways, and will be safe from any bad influence from them.

Marry Wisely Brothers ! Your Wife can Either be Your Ticket to Jahannum or Your Ticket to Jannah !

And if You are already Married, try to Keep your wives and daughters on The Path of Islam instead of the Path of Shaitaan (Immorality) !

May Allah Bless this Ummah with Hidayah !! Ameen.
