What is Niyaz? Can We Eat Niyaz ?

What is Niyaz? Can We Eat Niyaz ?

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim Innal-Hamdalillah was-Salaatu was-Salaam `alaa Rasoolillah As-Salaamu alaikum wa-Rahmatullahi wa-Barakatuh

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,  no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Our Merciful Lord, in His Sublime Mercy, revealed unto the Last Messenger (saws) His Book of Guidance to guide us on every aspect of our lives… to teach us from the Book and practice of the Messenger of Allah (saws) what is virtue and what is sin.

1.What is Niyaz?

Niyaz refers to the food a person makes and offers to others on any particular occasion, normally on the occasion of the death of any famous person or any saint.

Niyaaz are deeds that one can do for the Pleasure of Allah Subhanah Alone!   It is the Sole Right of Allah that these deeds are done in His Name and for His Pleasure Alone; and cannot be done in the name of any other being!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 76 Surah Dhahr verses 7-10:These (the People of Paradise) will be the people who fulfill their ‘nazrs’ (vows), and fear the Day whose evil shall be wide-spread; and who feed, out of love for Allah, the poor and the orphan and the captive (saying), “We are feeding you only for the sake of Allah.  We neither seek any reward from you, nor thanks!  We dread from our Lord the torment of the Day, which will be a long, dreary Day of Affliction!”

Thus whatever Niyaaz or Nazr one does, he must do so in the sole Name of Allah Subhanah and to gain His Pleasure Alone!  The Messenger of Allah (saws) himself exhorted the believers to spend in the Cause of Allah and feed the poor and the needy… and it was never his practice to pray Surah Fateha, or the Qull, or Durood Shareef on the food that was to be distributed or consumed!   Thus a believer, who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day, must do Niyaaz or Nazr in the name of Allah Alone, and to win His Pleasure and Good Will Alone.

As far as the ‘ajr’ or ‘sawaab’ reaching the Prophet (saws); brother, every good deed the believers do, Allah Subhanah automatically credits the account of the Prophet (saws) for the good deeds without diminishing the reward of the believers… because it was the Prophet (saws) who taught and guided the believers to do good deeds in accordance with the guidance and teachings of Allah Subhanah.

Thus, one must always follow the practice of the Messenger of Allah (saws), and avoid doing fancy rasms of praying Surah Fateha, or Qulls, or Durood Shareef on the food itself and then distributing it… for there is absolutely no evidence that the Messenger of Allah (saws) did or allowed the believers to do these ‘rasms’!  Simply feed the poor and needy, and distribute the food amongst them in the name of Allah, with the intention of gaining the Pleasure of Allah Subhanah Alone.

Distributing food to the poor, needy, indigent, neighbors and relatives is not a ‘bidah’ in itself, but rather a good righteous deed if done in the right manner as taught by the Prophet (saws).  But to make it a ‘rasm’ of gathering people, and reading a particular aayah or aayahs on it, and making a big ceremony out of the distribution is definitely a ‘bidah’, and should be avoided by the believers.

Simply take the name of Allah and distribute the food (preferably secretly) with the intention of gaining the Pleasure and Good Will of Allah Subhanah…  that would be following the Sunnah!….and a deed worthy of appreciation in the Court of Allah on the Day of Judgement.

2.Should we do Niyaz?

Ans – Niyaz is done on the occasion of the death of some saint or good person. Anyone who is considered to be a "Awliya Allah"[1] by people. The intention in doing Niyaz is that the person for whom it is done will be pleased with the person who is doing it and after being pleased the saint will grant the needs of the asker or will solve his problem or will help him in the Akhirah.  But all acts of servitude are for Allah alone. We should try to please him alone.
Allah has said in the Qur'an 6:162

"Say: "Truly my prayer and my service of sacrifice my life and my death are (all) for Allah the Cherisher of the Worlds"
ALL such actions that we do should be for the pleasure of Allah alone

Allah has told us in the Qur'an in Surah Zumar 39:3 that the Mushriks of Makkah who used to worship idols and do sacrifices for their idols used to say:

"Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due? But those who take for protectors other than Allah (say): "We only serve them in order that they may bring us nearer to Allah." "

Hence even they used to say that they do this only so that they(idols) would take them closer to Allah. The Mushriks of Makkah were considered wrong because of all this and were called "Kafirs" (rejectors) and "Mushriks" (those who associate partners with Allah). Since they were wrong then even we are wrong if we do that. For more details see the section on "Tauheed al – Ibadah" in the Notes of "Tauheed – the Oneness of Allah". Hence this act is actually included in Shirk in "Tawheed al Ibadah"

Neither our beloved Prophet nor the Sahaba ever did Niyaz. They understood and followed Islam much better than us. Isn't there a proof in this that if it was something good they would have surely done it.

In the light of the above stated facts it can be concluded that doing Niyaz is wrong.

3.Can we eat Niyaz?

a. Prohibited in the Qur'an

The normal intention of people behind doing Niyaz is given above. The reason why the food is cooked and distributed is to please someone other than Allah.

Islam believes in such perfect oneness of Allah that such food has been made "Haraam" for its followers. It is given in the Qur'an in no less than four different places 2:173 , 6:145 , 16:115 and 5:3

"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat blood the flesh of swine and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah"

Hence we are not allowed to eat or serve or give others such food.

b. Partner in sin by Cooperation

Besides when a person cooperates a joins a bad cause he becomes a partner in it as Allah has said in Surah an Nisa 4:85
"Whoever recommends and helps a good cause becomes a partner therein: and whoever recommends and helps an evil cause shares in its burden"

By eating that food we are becoming a partner in the sin...

(Surah Isra( The night Journey) 17: Ayat no.82)

It was narrated from Zaynab the wife of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn
Mas’ood from ‘Abd-Allaah that he said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, ‘Spells (ruqyah), amulets(Taweez) and love-charms are shirk.” I said, “Why do you say this? By Allaah, my eye was weeping with a discharge and I kept going to So and so, the Jew, who did a spell for me. When he did the spell, it calmed down.” ‘Abd-Allaah said: “That was just the work of the Shaytaan who was picking it with his hand, and when (the Jew) uttered the spell, he stopped. All you needed to do was to say as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say: ‘Adhhib il-ba’s Rabb al-naas ishfi anta al-Shaafi laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uka shifaa’an laa yughaadiru saqaman (Remove the harm, O Lord of mankind, and heal, You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing which leaves no disease behind.’(Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3883; Ibn Maajah, 3530)
This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilat al-Saheehah, 331 and 2972.

Hadith-38
It was narrated from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir al-Juhani that a group came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) [to swear their allegiance (bay’ah) to him]. He accepted the bay’ah of nine of them but not of one of them. They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, you accepted the bay’ah of nine but not of this one.” He said, “He is wearing an amulet.” The man put his hand (in his shirt) and took it off, then he (the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)) accepted his bay’ah. He said, ‘Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk.” (Narrated by Musnad-Ahmad, 16969)
This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 492.

Hadith-39
Abdullah bin Masood reports that I have heard the Holy Prophet(saw) saying that blowing (dum), Tamiza(Taweez,Talismans), threads and potions are all shirk.Mishkaat Sharif, pg 389

Hadith-40
Uqba bin Amir Al Jehni relates that a group of people came to the Holy Prophet to make a religious pledge (Bait). The Holy Prophet accepted the pledge from nine of the groups and left one out. The companions asked the Holy Prophet as to why he did not accept the pledge of the one who was left out.The reply was: “I did not make Bait with him because he was wearing a Talisman.” On hearing this that person drew the Talisman, out and destroyed it. Thereafter, the Holy Prophet accepted his pledge (bait) and said whoever wears a talisman,
he associates partners with Allah (i.e. he practices Shirk).Musnad Ahmed, Vol. 4 Pg. 156

Hadith-41
The Holy Prophet has said , whoever hangs anything he will be entrusted to that thing only.Abu Dawood, Mishkat pg. 389; Tirmizi Vol. 2, pg. 28

Al-Khattaabi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Amulets werethings that they used to wear in the belief that they could ward off calamity. Al-Baghawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The Arabs used to put amulets on their children to protect them against the evil eye,or so they claimed. This was declared invalid by (sharee’ah. Al-Ta’reefaat al-I’tiqaadiyyah, p. 121.)

c)Scholars viewpoint regading Qur’aanic Amulets

Shaykh Haafiz Hukami said: If they – i.e., amulets – contain clearly-written Qur’aanic verses or saheeh ahaadeeth, there was some dispute among the salaf – the Sahaabah, the Taabi’een and those who followed them – as to whether they are permissible. Some of them – i.e., some of the Salaf – said that this was permissible. This was narrated from ‘Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali, and others among the salaf.

Some of them said that this was not allowed; they regarded it is makrooh and not permitted. They include ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Akeem, ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr, ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir, and ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood and his companions such as al-Aswad and ‘Alqamah, and those who came after them such as Ibraaheem al-Nakha’i and others – may Allaah have mercy on them.

Undoubtedly not allowing that is a safer precaution to prevent means that lead to wrong beliefs, especially in our own times. If most of the Sahaabah and Taabi’een regarded it as makrooh in those noble times when the faith in their hearts was greater than a mountain, then regarding it as makrooh in these times of trials and tribulations is more appropriate and is more on the safe side. So how about when this concession has led people to things which are purely haraam and they have made it a means to those things? For example, they make amulets for seeking refuge, on which they write an aayah or soorah or the phrase “Bismillaah ir-Rahmaan ir-Raheem (In the name of Allaah, the most Gracious, the Most Merciful), then underneath it they put some devilish mumbo-jumbo, the meaning of which no one knows except one who has read their books. Or they divert the hearts of the common folk from putting their trust in Allaah and make them dependent on the things that they have written, and most of them frighten the people, before anything even happens to them. One of them will come to the person whom he wants to trick out of his money, knowing that the person is relying on him and trusts him, and he says: “Such and such is going to happen to your family or your wealth or to you,” Or he says, “You have a qareen (constant companion) from among the jinn,” or the like, and he describes things to him and and tells him things about himself that the Shaytaan whispers to him, to make him think that he has true insight and that he cares about him and wants to bring him some benefit. When the heart of the ignorant fool is filled with fear of what has been described to him, he turns away from his Lord and turns to this charlatan with all his heart and soul; he puts his trust in him and relies on him instead of Allaah, and says to him, “What is the way out from the things that you have described? What is the means of warding them off?” It is as if he (the charlatan) has control over benefit and harm, at which point his hopes are raised and he becomes more greedy, wondering how much he will be able to take. So he tells him, “If you give me such and such, I will write an amulet for that which will be this long and this wide” – he describes it and speaks to him in a nice manner. Then he hangs up this amulet to protect him from such and such diseases. Do you think, after all that we have mentioned, that this belief is a form of minor shirk? No way; it means that one is taking as one’s god someone other than Allaah, putting one’s trust in someone other than Him, turning to someone other than Him, relying on the deeds of created beings and trying to divert people from their religion. Can the Shaytaan do any of these tricks except with the help of his devilish brethren among mankind?

“Say: ‘Who can guard and protect you in the night or in the day from the (punishment of the) Most Gracious (Allaah)?’ Nay, but they turn away from the remembrance of their Lord”

[al-Anbiyaa’ 21:42 – interpretation of the meaning]

Then along with the devilish mumbo-jumbo, he writes on the amulet something from the Qur’aan, and hangs it up when he is not taahir (in a state of purity), when he is in a state of minor or major impurity, and he never shows any respect towards it or keeps it away from other things. By Allaah, none of the enemies of Allaah have treated His Book with as much contempt as these heretics who claim to be Muslims. By Allaah, the Qur’aan was revealed to be recited and followed, for its commandments to be obeyed and its prohibitions heeded, for its information to be believed and its limits to be adhered to, for its parables and stories to serve as lessons, and for it to be believed in.

“… the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord…”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:7 – interpretation of the meaning]

But these people have ignored all of that and cast it behind their backs; they have merely memorized a few words in order to earn their living from them, like any other means of earning a living that enables them to do haraam things, not things which are permitted. If a king or a governor wrote a letter to his subordinate, telling him to so such and such and not to do such and such, commanding the people in your city to do such and such and forbidding them to do such and such, etc., and he took that letter and did not read it or think about its instructions, and he did not convey that to those to whom he was commanded to convey it, but instead he took it and hung it around his neck or his arm, and did not pay any attention at all to what was in it, the king would punish him severely for that. So how about that which was revealed from the Compeller of the heavens and the earth, Who has the highest description in the heavens and on earth, to Whom is all praise in the beginning and at the end, to Whom all things return, so worship Him and put your trust in Him, He is sufficient for me, there is no god but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. And if they (amulets) contain anything but the two revelations (i.e., Qur’aan and saheeh Sunnah) then this is shirk without a doubt, and is more akin to the azlaam (arrows used during the jaahiliyyah for seeking luck or help in decision making) in being far-removed from the characteristics of Islam.

If they (amulets) contain anything other than the two revelations and instead contain mumbo-jumbo from the Jews or worshippers of the temple, stars or angels, or those who use the services of the jinn, etc., or they are made of pearls, strings, iron rings, etc., then this is shirk, i.e., hanging them up or wearing them is shirk, beyond a doubt, because they are not among the permissible means or known forms of treating disease. It is simply a belief that they will ward off such and such a problem or pain because of their so-called special features. This is like the belief of idol-worshippers concerning their idols, and they are like the azlaam (arrows) which the people of the jaahiliyyah used to take everywhere with them and consult whenever they had to make a decision. These were three arrows, on the first of which was written ‘Do’, on the second ‘Do not do’ and on the third ‘Try again.’ If the person picked out the one which said ‘Do’, he would go ahead and do that thing; if it said, ‘Do not do’, he would not do it, and if it said, ‘Try again,’ he would consult them again. Instead of this, Allaah – to Whom be praise – has given us something better, which is the prayer of Istikhaarah.

In conclusion, these amulets which do not contain Qur’aan or Sunnah are just like the azlaam in that they involve corrupt beliefs and go against the sharee’ah and are far-removed from the characteristics of Islam. Those who believe in pure Tawheed keep as far away as possible from such things. The faith in their hearts is too great to permit anything of this sort to enter their hearts. Their status is too high and their certainty of faith is too strong for them to put their trust in anyone other than Allaah or to seek the protection of anyone other than Him. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

(Ma’aarij al-Qubool, 2/510-512)

The view that amulets are not allowed even if they contain words from the Qur’aan is the view of our shaykhs

The scholars of the Standing Committee said:

The scholars are agreed that it is haraam to wear amulets if they contain anything other than Qur’aan, but they differed concerning those which do contain Qur’aan. Some of them said that wearing these is permitted, and others said that it is not permitted. The view that it is not permitted is more likely to be correct because of the general meaning of the ahaadeeth, and in order to prevent means of shirk.
Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz, Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Ghadyaan, Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Qa’ood.
(Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 1/212)

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Efforts should be made to find out what the witch has done. If he has put some hair, for example, in a certain place, or put it in a comb and so on, if it is known that he has put it in a certain place, it should be taken out and burned or destroyed. Then its effects will be cancelled out and what the witch wanted to do will be annulled. Majmoo’ Fataawa wa Maqaalaat al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 8/144. So to get rid of the paper that your father has, tear it up and burn it, and remind him to repent to Allaah from having worn an amulet.

Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:This misguidance is still widespread among the Bedouin, fellahin (peasants) and some of the city-dwellers. Examples include the pearls which some drivers put in their cars, hanging them from the rear-view mirror. Some of them hang an old shoe on the front or back of the car; some hang a horse-shoe on the front of their house or shop. All of that is to ward off the evil eye, or so they claim. And there are other things which are widespread because of ignorance of Tawheed and the things which nullify it such as actions of shirk and idolatry which the Messengers were only sent and the Books were only revealed to put an end to. It is to Allaah that we complain of the ignorance of Muslims nowadays, and their being far away from their religion.

Idols Do Not Create, Help, Or Have Power Over Anything

Idols Do Not Create, Help, Or Have Power Over Anything

Allah admonishes the idolators who worshipped idols, rivals and images besides Him, although these objects were created by Allah, and neither own anything nor can they bring harm or benefit. These objects do not see or give aid to those who worship them. They are inanimate objects that neither move, hear, or see. Those who worship these objects are better than they are, for they hear see and have strength of their own. Allah said,

﴿أَيُشْرِكُونَ مَا لاَ يَخْلُقُ شَيْئاً وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ ﴾

(Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created) meaning, `Do you associate with Allah others that neither create, nor have power to create anything' Allah said in another Ayah,

(O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily, those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatches away a thing from them, they will have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought. They have not estimated Allah His rightful estimate. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, Almighty) ﴿22:73-74﴾. Allah states that if all false gods of the disbelievers gather their strength, they would not be able to create a fly. Rather, if the fly steals anything from them, no matter how insignificant, and flew away, they would not be able to retrieve it. Therefore, if an object is this weak, how can it be worshipped and invoked for provisions and aid This is why Allah said,

﴿لاَ يَخْلُقُ شَيْئاً وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ﴾

(... who created nothing but they themselves are created) these worshipped objects themselves were created and made. Prophet Ibrahim Al-Khalil proclaimed,

﴿أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ﴾

("Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve'') ﴿37:95﴾ Allah said next,

﴿وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًا﴾

(No help can they give them) those who worship them,

﴿وَلاَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ﴾

(nor can they help themselves) nor are they able to aid themselves against those who seek to harm them. For instance, Allah's Khalil, peace be upon him, broke and disgraced the idols of his people, just as Allah said he did,

﴿فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْباً بِالْيَمِينِ ﴾

(Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand,) ﴿37:93﴾ and,

﴿فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَاذاً إِلاَّ كَبِيراً لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ ﴾

(So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it.) ﴿21:58﴾ Mu`adh bin `Amr ibn Al-Jamuh and Mu`adh bin Jabal, may Allah be pleased with both of them, were still young when they embraced Islam after the Messenger of Allah came to Al-Madinah. So they were attacking the idols of the idolators at night, breaking, disfiguring them and using them as fuel for needy widows. They sought to give a lesson to their people to make them aware of their error. `Amr bin Al-Jamuh, who was one of the chiefs of his people, had an idol that he used to worship and perfume. The two Mu`adhs used to go to that idol, turn it on its head and tarnish it with animal waste. When `Amr bin Al-Jamuh would see what happened to his idol, he would clean it, perfume it and leave a sword next to it, saying, "Defend yourself.'' However, the two young men would repeat their actions, and he would do the same as before. Once, they took the idol, tied it to a dead dog and threw it in a well while tied to a rope! When `Amr bin Al-Jamuh saw this, he knew that his religion was false and said, "By Allah! Had you been a god who has might, you would not end up tied to a dog on a rope!'' `Amr bin Al-Jamuh embraced Islam, and he was strong in his Islam. He was later martyred during the battle of Uhud, may Allah be pleased with him, give him pleasure. and grant him Paradise as his dwelling. Allah said,

﴿وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَتَّبِعُوكُمْ﴾

(And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not.) Allah says, these idols do not hear the calls of those who worship them. Therefore, the result is the same, whether calling the idols or shunning them. Ibrahim, peace be upon said,

﴿يأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لاَ يَسْمَعُ وَلاَ يَبْصِرُ وَلاَ يُغْنِى عَنكَ شَيْئاً﴾

("O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything'') ﴿19:42﴾ Next, Allah states that the idols were created, just as those who worship them. Rather, the people are better than the idols, because they are able to hear, see and exert harm. The idols, on the other hand, have no such powers. Allah said next,

﴿قُلِ ادْعُواْ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ﴾

(Say: "Call your (so-called) partners (of Allah)) invoke the idols for aid against me and do not give me respite, even for an instant, and give it your best effort,

﴿إِنَّ وَلِيِّىَ اللَّهُ الَّذِى نَزَّلَ الْكِتَـبَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّـلِحِينَ ﴾

(Verily, my protector is Allah Who has revealed the Book (the Qur'an), and He protects the righteous.) Allah's support is sufficient and He will suffice for me, He is My supporter, I trust in Him and take refuge with Him. He is my protector, in this life and the Hereafter, and the protector of every righteous believer after me. Similarly, the people of Hud said,

("All that we say is that some of our gods have seized you with evil (madness). '' Hud replied: "I call Allah to witness, and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe ﴿as partners in worship, with Him (Allah)﴾. So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on a path that is straight) ﴿11:54-56﴾. Ibrahim Al-Khalil proclaimed (to his people),

(Do you observe that which you have been wershipping, You and your ancient fathers. Verily, they are enemies to me, save the Lord of all that exists. Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me.'') ﴿26:75-78﴾ He also said to his father and his people,

("Verily, I am innocent of what you warship. Except Him Who did create me; and verily, He will guide me.'' And he made it a legacy lasting among his offspring, that they may turn back (to Allah).) ﴿43:26-28﴾ Allah said here,

﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ﴾

(Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah) until the end of the Ayah, reiterating what has been said earlier, but He uses direct speech this time,

﴿لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلاَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ﴾

(cannot help you nor can they help themselves.) The Ayah,

(And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not.) is similar to another Ayah,

﴿إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لاَ يَسْمَعُواْ دُعَآءَكُمْ﴾

(If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call.) ﴿35:14﴾. Allah said next,

﴿وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ﴾

(and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not.) meaning, they have eyes that stare as if they see, although they are solid. Therefore, the Ayah treated them as if they had a mind ﴿saying, Tarahum, instead of Taraha﴾, since they are made in the shape of humans with eyes drawn on them.

(199. Show forgiveness, enjoin Al-'Urf (the good), and turn away from the foolish (don't punish them). ) (200. And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytan, then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower.)

Taweez (Amulets) Can Lead To Shirk & Are Haram (Forbidden)

Taweez (Amulets) Can Lead To Shirk & Are Haram (Forbidden)

Anyone that is creating taweez (amulets) to create love between another or make a couple divorce each other and other things, I say, fear Allah SWT. You are not the Creator of the Heavens & The Earth, nor do you control the qadr (decree) of Allah SWT, so how do you possibly attempt to tamper with who should forcefully fall in love with someone or divorce someone or a piece of paper to become happy?

A taweez does not lead to anything but shirk (partners with Allah) as people start to believe that this amulet, charm, hanging wherever in the house , on your arm, neck, around your arm or wherever you decide to put is bringing goodness, rather than Allah SWT. If you are looking for happiness in your life, why do you not turn to Allah SWT?

Why do you believe in this piece of paper?

Is it more powerful than Allah SWT?

Is it more powerful than the Quran?

Is it more powerful the du’aas (supplications) in the Quran and the Hadith?

Is it more powerful than salah (prayers)?

More powerful than sadaqa (charity)?

Your answer is no. So why do you people turn to these knowingly or unknowingly, that these things can make you possibly leave you out of the fold of Islam?

Is the trials that Allah SWT put you through that difficult?

Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqara: “Allah does not burden a soul that it cannot bear.” Allah SWT also says: “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” Allah SWT tests us differently, so do you think, your life will become easier if you decide to believe in a piece of paper?

Do you know what could possibly be in these pieces of paper asides from Quran?

Read the information below  explains why taweez (amulets) can lead to shirk and are haram (forbidden) and many other things.

In the name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

All praise is due to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon his Messenger, and his family and his companions.

Having read the post from Sunni Path, supporting the use of ta’weez, I think that there is a need for a clear and simple response to the issues raised.

Before delving into the points made in the article, I would like the reader to consider the following questions:

We regularly hear people defending ta’weez that contain the Qur’an and Allah’s names and attributes, but what do you think about the following:

Ta’weez that contain the names of shaytaan?
Ta’weez that contain the aayaat of Allah written backwards?
Ta’weez that contain symbols associated with the worship of the shaytaan, such as the so-called star of david, and the pyramids?
Ta’weez that contain illegible writing?
Ta’weez that contain pictures of the human body with words and symbols written over the top?
Ta’weez that contain the aayaat of Allah scribbled and not given proper respect?
Ta’weez that contain nothing except tables of numbers?

These are the vast majority of the ta’weez that we open every single week, with most of them issued by imams, scholars, and so-called ‘pious people’. Now you have to make a choice between one of two things; either you defend these ta’weez, claiming that they are actually ‘Qur’an’ or that it is permissible to disgrace the words of Allah by scribbling them, or the reader has no choice but to admit that these ta’weez are by consensus of the scholars, haraam.

I estimate that I have opened somewhere between 500 and 1,000 ta’weez in my course of being a raaqi, and at the current count, less than ten of them contained clear Qur’an or the names of Allah, with nothing else written on them. In reality, this is just another example of the magicians hiding behind respectable scholars and their opinions.

We say to the people who make these so called ta’weez from the Qur’an: would you let the sick person simply print a page of the Qur’an and tie it around his or her neck? By Allah, you would not allow it. Instead, they have to use your ‘special’ writings, which they are not allowed to see or open, and often have to pay money for. If you really hold the opinion of ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), why don’t you allow the people to print a copy of aayat-ul-kursi from quran.com and tie it around their necks? It is the greatest aayah in the Qur’an, so why would it not protect them whilst your secret writings and scribbles can protect them? Has Allah given you something greater than aayat-ul-kursi, or is it that you seek help from the shaytaan? Where did you learn what those numbers and symbols mean? Why don’t you share your books with us that tell you how to ‘cure’ someone with pictures of the pyramids and the star of david?

My brothers and sisters, these people hide behind legitimate opinions, in order to confuse you and take you away from the path of Allah. Let me give you an example:

The Sunni Path post quotes those who allow ta’weez:

Sa`id ibn al-Musayyib, `Ata’, Mujahid, Abd Allah ibn `Amr, Ibn Sirin, `Abayd Allah ibn Abd Allah ibn `Umar, and others (Allah be well pleased with them all). [Musannaf, 5.439]
How many of you looked at that list of people and believed them all to be from the companions? By Allah, there is only one companion mentioned in that whole list; all the rest are from the generations who came after them.

Furthermore, all of the narrations from that companion are weak. They contain Muhammad ibn Is-haaq, who is someone whose narration is not accepted unless he clearly states that he heard the hadith directly from his teacher (the Arabic term is: mudallis), which in this case he did not.

So, let me say explicitly that there is not one single companion from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and may Allah be pleased with them) who allowed ta’weez of any kind, whether from the Qur’an or not!

Let us quote the author of the Musannaf in full:

“The Chapter of those who allowed the hanging of Ta’weez”

“The permissibility of this was reported from Sa’eed ibn al-Musayyib, ‘Ataa’, Mujaahid, Abu Ja’far al-Baaqir, ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr, Muhammad ibn Seereen, ‘Ubaydullah ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, and ad-Dahhaak and IT IS NOT AUTHENTIC from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr, ad-Dahhaak, Mujaahid, and Ibn Seereen, and the rest are authentic.”
The author himself says that there is no companion who this is authentically reported from, and that half of the taabi’een mentioned are also not authentic. This is in the very same passage that the author of the post quoted – so why did he choose to stop just before the part where the author says that it isn’t authentic?

So out of that long list, we are left with ‘Ataa, Abu Ja’far, and ‘Ubaydullah – three people, none of whom were companions of the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and even their view says that the permissibility is limited to that which is from the Qur’aan alone!

On top of that, the very same book (al-Musannaf) mentions other narrations which state that all ta’weez are haraam, even if they come from the Qur’an (authentically narrated from the companions Ibn Mas’ud, Ibn ‘Abbas, Hudhayfah, ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir, and Ibn ‘Ukaym – may Allah be pleased with them all). Why didn’t the author include those narrations? Is it perhaps because he doesn’t want you to know?

Even if we accept some or all of the narrations from people who allowed ta’weez, these people are talking about writing a simple aayah of the Qur’an, or some of the names of Allah, clearly and in a way that can be understood by everyone who reads it.

Don’t be fooled by statements such as ‘the vast majority of the scholars’ and ‘it is mentioned in such-and-such a book’ – anyone can write words like these. Why don’t we talk about something quantifiable, and say ‘the vast majority of the companions, if not all of them, considered ta’weez to be haraam, in all of its forms’.

Finally, we say to the author of the Sunni Path post and his supporters: Do you know why some of the scholars allowed ta’weez from the Qur’an? Because it is the uncreated speech of Allah, and therefore cannot be considered shirk. Would you like to share with the brothers and sisters what you really believe about the Qur’an that we read, and that you claim to write on the ta’weez?

Allah knows best, and all praise is for Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon our messenger Muhammad, and his family and his companions.

*taweez containing shirk*

"Wearing Of Gem Stones As A Good Omen Is "SHIRK"

"Wearing Of Gem Stones As A Good Omen Is "SHIRK"

No Sahih Hadith is reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding the merits or characteristics of rings and gems It is thus impermissible to ascribe to the Prophet (peace be upon him) things that he did not say for it is authentically reported that he (peace be upon him) stated, "Whoever lies against me (intentionally), then (surely) let them occupy their seat in Hell-fire." Consequently, it is impermissible for a person to believe that these rings have special merits, or to believe in the stories and myths which are related to them. It comes under the term "Shirk" if anyone consider it as a good omen or Eraser of Problems.

Even the most sacred of stones has no basis in the controlling of either benefit or harm.

It is in Hadith - Narrated by Zaid bin Aslam (RadiAllahu Anha) from his father who said: "Umar bin Al-Khattab (RadiAllahu Anha) addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By Allah ! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) touching, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he kissed it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (during circumambulating - Tawaf) except that we wanted to show off before the Pagans, and now Allah has destroyed them.' 'Umar (RadiAllahu Anha) added, '(nevertheless), the Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) did that and we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal).' (Bukhari book #26, Hadith #675).

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 51:

Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector"; and on Allah let the believers put their trust.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 17:

17 If Allah touch thee with affliction none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness He hath power over all things.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 57 Surah Hadid verse 22:

22 No misfortune can happen on earth or in your souls but is recorded in a Decree before We bring it into existence: that is truly easy for Allah!

May Allah bless us with the gift of Hidayah. Ameen.

Fortune Telling

Bismillahir-RaHmanir-RaHeem.

Ibn Mihjan reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I fear on account of my nation three things after my death: (I fear that) their imams (leaders) would oppress them, (that) they would believe in astrology, and (that) they would disbelieve predestination." (Reported by Ibn `Asakir and Ibn `Abdul-Barr)

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who goes to a fortune-teller to ask him about something, his Prayer will not be accepted for forty days." (Reported by Muslim)

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who goes to a soothsayer or a fortuneteller and believes what he says exhibits disbelief in what has been sent down to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) (from Almighty Allah)." (Al-Albani said in Sahih At-Targhib wa At-Tarhib, vol. 3, p. 172, that this is an authentic hadith.)

Contemplating the last two hadiths reported by Abu Hurayrah, it is to be noted that mere going to fortune-tellers is a sin that incurs upon a Muslim who commits it that his prayer is not accepted for forty days, and that believing what fortunetellers say renders a Muslim a disbeliever in what has been sent down to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). This is because Allah Almighty says: "Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again)." (An-Naml: 65)

Allah Almighty also says: "(He is) the knower of the Unseen, and He revealeth unto none His secret, save unto every messenger whom he hath chosen, and then He maketh a guard to go before him and a guard behind him That He may know that they have indeed conveyed the messages of their Lord. He surroundeth all their doings, and He keepeth count of all things." (Al-Jinn: 26-28)
To sum up, it is based on lies and deceit; it has no scientific basis.

Actually when Islam prohibits something, it closes all the avenues of approach to it. This is achieved by prohibiting every step and every means leading to the Haram (unlawful).

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid states:
Al-Bukhaari said in his Saheeh: Qutaadah said: “Allaah created these stars for three purposes: to adorn the heavens, to stone the devils and as signs by which to navigate. Whoever seeks anything else in them is mistaken and does not benefit from them, and he is wasting his time and effort in seeking something of which he has no knowledge.” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Baab fi’l-Nujoom, 2/240)

And Allah knows Best.

"Nothing Can Change Your Destiny Except Dua To Allah"

"Nothing Can Change Your Destiny Except Dua To Allah"

Allah Don't Want Any Mediator To Accept Our Dua.....

Today's Most Common Example About "Waseela" Some So Called Muslims Are Delivering...

Like Judge Need Lawyer Blah Blah....!!

But They Fellow Muslims Don't Know The Judge Creator Of ALLAH Subhana Tala,...

Judge Is A Human He Wants Lawyer, But Allah Is An Creator Of Universe He Does't Want Any Mediator Or Any etc etc.....

Senseless So Called Muslims Don't Know What They Comparing With Allah Subhana Tala (Nauzubillah)....

Before Delivering Such An Rubbish Examples Use The Common Sense To Whom Your Comparing With,

"He Is Allah The Creator Of Universe"

Allah’s name al-`Alīm (the All-Knowing) is an emphatic form of the word ālim (knower). It appears 157 times in the Qur’an. For example: “Indeed You are the All-Knowing, the Wise.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah: 32] “And He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful.” [Sūrah Rūm: 54] and “That is the determination of the Mighty, the All-Knowing.” [Sūrah al-An`ām: 96]

{Say: None in the heavens or on earth, except Allah, knows the Unseen…} (An-Naml 27:65)

Again Allah says:

{He is the Living, there is no god but He. So, pray to Him, making religion pure for Him only. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.} (Ghafir 40: 65).
In the oft-recited verse known as Ayat Al-Kursi, we find this strongly worded verse:

{Who is there that can intercede in His presence except by His permission?} (Al-Baqarah 2:255)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his cousin Ibn Abbas:

"If you ask, ask of Allah. And, if you seek assistance, seek assistance from Allah." (At-Tirmidhi)

End Quote

I have been discussing the subject of using "waseela" while supplicating to Allah (swt) with some Muslims, and have come to know that there are quite different opinions about fact whether the use of "waseela" in duaa is halaal or haraam. Could you please provide me with some information about this subject, some ayaat from the Holy Qur'an or authentic ahaadeeth? With the term "use of waseela" I mean asking via the agency of someone, fx "I ask You (O Allah) to grant me forgiveness via the agency of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him and his household)" or via the agency of other Prophets (Peace be upon them), saints or other pious Muslims.

Praise be to Allaah.

What is meant by tawassul and waseelah is four things:the kind of tawassul without which faith cannot be complete, which is seeking to reach Allaah (tawassul) by believing in Him and His Messengers, and obeying Him and His Messenger, This is what is meant in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Do your duty to Allaah and fear Him. Seek the means of approach to Him…”[al-Maa’idah 5:35]

This includes seeking to approach Allaah through His Names and Attributes, or by doing acts of obedience and worship by which one seeks to approach Allaah, and so on.

Seeking to approach Allaah by asking His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to make du’a’ for one during his lifetime, and the believers asking one another to make du’aa’ for one another.

This follows on from the first type and is encouraged.Seeking to approach Allaah by virtue of the status and virtues of some created being, such as saying, “O Allaah, I ask You by virtue of Your Prophet” and so on.

This is allowed by some of the ‘ulama’, but this opinion is da’eef (weak). The correct view is that it is definitely haraam, because there can be no tawassul in du’aa’ except by virtue of the Names and Attributes of Allaah.

Tawassul as it is understood by many of the Muslims of later times, which is calling on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and seeking his help (or seeking the help of the dead and so-called awliya’).

This is a form of major shirk, because calling on or seeking help from anyone other than Allaah with regard to something that that only Allaah is able to do is a kind of worship, and directing worship to anyone or anything other than Allaah is major shirk.

And Allaah knows best.

"WASEELAH (INTERCESSION)"

"WASEELAH (INTERCESSION)"

This is One Of the Most Discussed Topic Nowadays. But Unfortunately, many people are not Aware that there are no less than 25 Verses in the Holy Qur'an which prohibits "Waseelah" !

Lets Not Go Far And Start off with the First Chapter of the Holy Qur'an which is "Surah Al Fatiha" and this surah is also known as "Ummul Dua (The Mother of All Duas)" SubhanAllah this is the Dua which is Allah has taught us ! Is there Any Waseelah taught to us by Allah in this Dua?

﴿٤﴾ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help.

We Read This Dua/Surah in every Rakah of our prayers, yet we do not ponder upon its meaning !

"You Alone We Ask for Help" !!

。Allah Says in the Holy Quran at several places That Supplicate only to me and I will Respond !

~ Almighty Allah says:

[40:60]

Your Lord has said, .Call Me, I will respond to you. Definitely those who show arrogance against worshipping Me shall enter Jahannam (Hell) with disgrace. [Surah al-Ghafir, Verse 60]

~The Almighty Allah states:

فَلَوْلاَ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا وَلَكِنْ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُون (الأنعام:

[6:43]

~Why then, did they not supplicate in humility when a calamity from Us came upon them? Instead, their hearts were hardened and Satan adorned for them what they were doing. [Surah al-An'am, Verse 43]

~ "When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way." (2: 186)

~ Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent.
(25:77)

If we look at this verse Alone we will never look for A Waseelah Again !!

~ And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein. (50:16)

SubhanAllah Our Lord Our Creator is more nearer to us than our jugular vein and He even knows what our soul whispers Yet still we look for A Waseelah?

。"PROHIBITION OF WASEELAH"

* Evidence from the Holy Qur'an:

~And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided. (2:48)

~And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, and no compensation will be accepted from it, nor will any intercession benefit it, nor will they be aided.. (2:123)

~O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange and no friendship and no intercession. And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers. (2:254)

~Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. (2:55)

~And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with the Qur'an, lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allah no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve. (6:70)

~[It will be said to them], "And you have certainly come to Us alone as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you. And We do not see with you your 'intercessors' which you claimed that they were among you associates [of Allah ]. It has [all] been severed between you, and lost from you is what you used to claim." (6:94)

~Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne, arranging the matter [of His creation]. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah , your Lord, so worship Him. Then will you not remember?
(10:3)

~And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah " Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?" Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him. (10:18)

~He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allah , your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed. (35:13)

~If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters]. (35:14)

~Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me? (36:23)

~Or have they taken other than Allah as intercessors? Say, "Even though they do not possess [power over] anything, nor do they reason? (39:43)

All these Ayah shows us that There is No Intercessor Other than Allah !

。ASKING WASEELAH FROM PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an :

“And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad); then if you die, would they live forever?”

[al-Anbiya’ 21:34]

“Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die, and verily, they (too) will die”

[al-Zumar 39:30]

These Verses show us that Our Beloved Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam is no more in this world. And Allah states in an other Ayah :

“but you cannot make hear those who are in graves”

[Faatir 35:22]

This Shows that Our Beloved Prophet cant hear our supplications nor He Can intercede Because we cannot make hear those who are in graves !!

If anyone thinks that Asking Waseelah From Our Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam is allowed then Our answer to them is :

* Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful." (2:111)

No where in the Quran And Sunnah it is mentioned that Waseelah of Our Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam is permitted or even mentioned !!

。"WASEELAH OR TAWASSUL MENTIONED IN THE HOLY QURAN"

There are only "Three" means of Tawassul that are prescribed in the Quran And Sunnah which are as follows :

(1) Tawassul by means of Allah’s Beautiful Names

Allah says: “And to Allah belongs all the beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them.” Soorah al-A’raf (7): 180.

Tawassul by means of Allah’s Beautiful Names is to invoke Allah mentioning His Beautiful Names, like saying, “O Allah, I ask you for You being the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy, the Most Gracious, the All-Knower that You grant me safety and well being…” This form of Tawassul is known from numerous Ahaadeeth.

Once, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) saw a man saying in his Tashahhud: ‘I ask You by virtue of the fact that all praise belongs to You, none has the right to be worshiped but You Alone, having no partner. The Great Bestower of all blessings, O Originator of the Heavens and the Earth. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer and Protector of all that exists. Indeed, I ask You for Paradise, and I seek Your Refuge from the Fire.” So the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said to his companions: “Do you know what he has supplicated with?” They said: “Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) know best.” He said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, he has supplicated to Allah by His Great Name, if He is called upon by them, He responds and if He is asked by it, He gives.” Abu Dawood, An-Nisa’ee, Musnad Ahmad

。 (2) Tawassul by means of Righteous deeds of the Supplicant

“Those who say: ‘Our Lord! We have Indeed, believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire’”
Soorah aali-Imraan (3): 6.

Tawassul by means of righteous deeds is to invoke Allah by mentioning one’s righteous actions, in which he feared Allah and hoped for His Mercy and reward, while giving precedence to His obedience. Like saying,

“Our Lord! We have believed in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger; so write us down among those who bear witness (to the truth i.e. none has the right to be worshiped except Allah).” ] Soorah al-Imraan (3): 53.

“Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam)) calling to Faith; ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die in the state of righteousness along with Al-Abraar (those who are obedient to Allah and strictly follow His orders).”
Soorah al-Imraan (3): 193

This form of Tawassul is also mentioned in a number of Ahaadeeth of Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam). From amongst them is the famous story of the companions of the cave. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) mentioned the story of three men who spent a night in a cave. A boulder rolled down from the mountain and blocked the entrance of the cave. So, they supplicated to Allah by means of their righteous actions. One of them mentioned his obedience towards his elderly parents, the other mentioned an incident when he refrained from zina (adultery) despite having the means to do so, and the third mentioned an incident in which he was truthful and honest in a monetary matter. Allah, the Exalted, upon hearing their supplication moved the rock from the entrance of the cave.
Saheeh al-Bukharee vol.3, no.472.

。 (3) Tawassul by means of a Supplication made by a Righteous Person

This third type of Tawassul is to ask any righteous living person to make Du’aa (supplication) for oneself.

Tawassul by means of a Supplication made by a Righteous Person is also reported from the practice of the Sahabah (radhi allahu anhu). Anas Ibn Malik (radhi allahu anhu) narrates from Umar Ibn Khattab (radhi allahu anhu) that when the people suffered from drought he used to ask al-Abbas Ibn Mutallib (radhi allahu anhu) to pray for rain for them. He used to say: “O Allah we used to request our Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) to supplicate to You for rain, and You would bless us with rain. Now, we ask the uncle of our Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) to supplicate to You, so grant us rain.” Saheeh Al Bukhari 1010

Meaning of al-Waseelah

Waseelah is nearness and the means by which one approaches and draws near to something. In the Islamic context, Waseelah refers to the means by which once can achieve nearness with Allah.

Another meaning of al-Waseelah is a rank and standing with Allah, as is the Hadeeth. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “When you hear the caller to prayer then say the like of what he says, then send blessings upon me… Then ask Allah to grant me al-Waseelah because it is a station in Paradise, which is appropriate only for a single servant from the servants of Allah, and I hope that it will be me.
Saheeh Muslim vol.1, no.747.

The Meaning of al-Waseelah as explained in the Qur’aan

The definition of Waseelah, “it is the means by which one achieves nearness to Allah”, has its basis in the Qur’aan.“Those whom you call upon desire (for themselves) means of access (al-Waseelah) to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be nearest and they hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment. Verily, the Torment of your Lord is something to be afraid of! Soorah al-Isra (17): 57.

Abdullah Ibn Mas’oud (radhi allahu anhu) said: “This verse was revealed concerning a group of Arabs, who worshiped a group of Jinn. The Jinn accepted Islam which was unknown to those people who worshiped them.” Saheeh al-Bukharee v.6, no.238 and Saheeh Muslim

Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajr (rahimahullah) said: “The people who used to worship the Jinn continued to worship the Jinn, and the Jinn were not pleased with their worship, since they had accepted Islam. And they were the ones who sought a means of nearness to their Lord…” Fath al-Baree 10/12 and 13.

Allah says in the Qur’aan: “O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah and fear Him. Seek the means of approach (al-Waseelah) to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much as you can. So that you may be successful.” Soorah al-Maidah (5): 35.

Al-Hafidh Ibn Katheer (rahimahullah) reported Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) saying in his commentary of this verse: “The meaning of al-Waseelah is to draw closer.” He also reports from Qatadah: “This is that you draw near to Him by obedience to Him and through actions that are pleasing to Him.” And Ibn Katheer (rahimahullah) said: “And with regard to what those Imams (Ibn Abbas and Qatadah) said there is no disagreement between the scholars of Tafseer about it… al-Waseelah is that by means of which one reaches that which he desires.” Tafseer Ibn Katheer.

There is No Waseelah or Tawassul other than these three prescribed neither in Quran Nor In Sunnah !!

May Allah Bless Muslim Ummah With Hidayah.

::CHARMS, TALISMAN'S AND AMULETS IN ISLAM::

::CHARMS, TALISMAN'S AND AMULETS IN ISLAM::
=========================================

[In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful]

The issue of wearing amulets and good luck charms is important to understand for a Muslim to implement the teachings of monotheism (tawheed) in his or her daily life. Many cultures have practices in which they wear accessories or seek blessings from objects, believing that these objects can ward off evil. Such practices contradict the correct understanding of the attributes of Allah, as only Allah has the absolute power to bring benefit and protect from harm.

Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:

“Say: I have no power at all for myself to harm or benefit except as Allah wills.”
[Qur’an 10:49]

And Allah says:

“Do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did so then you would be wrongdoers.”
[Qur’an 10:106]

A believer should only place their hope and trust in Allah to direct destiny towards a good end. People who depend upon amulets, necklaces, trinkets, charms, spells, and other things have placed their ultimate hope and trust in them and they have ascribed to them attributes which belong to Allah alone, thereby committing an act of idolatry.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
“Verily, spells, amulets, and charms are acts of idolatry.”
[Source: Sunan Abu Dawud 3883; Grade: Sahih]

The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, has strongly forbidden us from using amulets and charms as a means of seeking blessings, warning that those who do so expose themselves to punishment from Allah.

Uqbah ibn Amir reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
“Whoever hangs an amulet around his neck, then Allah will not fulfill his wishes. Whoever hangs a seashell as a charm, then Allah will not leave him without penalty.”
[Source: Musnad Ahmad 16951; Grade: Sahih]

The Arabs in the time of the holy Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, would sometimes seek healing by resorting to spells, amulets, and charms. The Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, told us that such practices never help cure disease but rather will lead to great loss and regret in the Hereafter.

Imran ibn Hussein reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, saw a man wearing a brass ring, so he asked what it was. The man said, “It is protection from my arthritis.” The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
“Remove it, for it will only increase your arthritis and if you were to die wearing it you would never be successful.”

The same is true for the practice of seeking blessings from created objects such as trees, animals, or graves. In fact, the holy Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, compared those who seek blessings from trees to the Israelites who worshiped the image of a calf.

Abu Waqid Al-Laithi reported: When we traveled to Hunain with the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, we passed by a tree which the idolaters called Dhat Al-Anwat. They would hang their weapons upon it for blessings. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, make for us a blessed tree just as they have one.” The Prophet, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
“Glory be to Allah! You have said just as the people of Moses said: make for us a god as they have a god (7:138). By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will follow the traditions of the people before you.”

Essentially, those who rely upon spells, charms, and amulets will be entrusted to their care. They will no longer receive blessings from Allah and will be left to the amulet which can never help them. Would any of us want to be entrusted to the care of a lifeless object instead of the Merciful Lord?

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu allihi wasallam, said:
“Whoever ties a knot and blows on it has performed magic, and whoever performs magic has committed idolatry. Whoever hangs something as a charm will be entrusted to it.”

Therefore, we must not wear charms or amulets, resort to magic spells, or seek blessings from created objects. Rather, we should put our trust and reliance in Allah alone, seek blessings from Him alone, and direct our prayers and acts of worship to Him alone.
Regarding Quranic amulets, some of the scholars allowed them while others prohibited them.

According to the Kuwaiti Encyclopedia of Fiqh:
“As for amulets which do not contain anything but verses from the Qur'an or the names and attributes of Allah the Exalted, there are different opinions. The Hanafi, Maliki, and Shafi’ee scholars as well as a narration from Ahmad incline towards the permissibility of that. It is the apparent meaning of what is narrated from Aisha and is likewise the opinion of Abdullah ibn Amr. They interpreted the narration that spells, amulets, and charms are idolatry to mean only amulets within which is idolatry. Another narration from Ahmad forbids amulets in general and it is the apparent meaning of the statement of Hudhaifa, Uqbah ibn Amir, and Ibn Hakeem as well as Ibn Mas’ud, Ibn Abbas, and a group of the companion’s students.”

For those who wear Quranic amulets, it should be understood that the blessings in them do not come from the object itself. Rather, the blessings are in remembering and reciting the words of Allah. There is no harm if the verses of the Quran are displayed in order to remember and recite them often, but they should not be misunderstood as being blessed simply by their presence.
Nevertheless, many Muslims in our time do not appreciate this importance nuance and they have used Quranic amulets in the wrong manner. It should be noted that the use of Quranic amulets is not a confirmed prophetic tradition nor is it recommended, rather it is only permissible according to some scholars, and the prophetic narrations which prohibit amulets make no clear distinction in this regard. For this reason, it may be better and safer to avoid the use of Quranic amulets altogether.
