"WHAT TO DO DURING RAMADAN?"

"WHAT TO DO DURING RAMADAN?"

This Month is the Month of "Achieving forgivess" of All our past sins from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. One should spend this month by fasting its days and Spending its nights in prayers without even wasting A Single Moment.

Allaah has made fasting Ramadaan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” And al-Bukhaari (2008) and Muslim (174) also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

"ACTS OF IBADAH DURING RAMADAN"

Since its A Blessed Month we should not miss any chance of earning Good Deeds !

~ FASTING :

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

Fasting is obligatory in this month.

~ PRAYERS :

Many Muslims dont pray their five daily prayers whole year but one should be consistent with his/her five daily prayers in Ramadan.

Apart From Five daily prayers and in order to acheive more rewards one should consistenly pray "Tahajjud" and "Salatul Duha" during Ramadan.

~ TAHAJJUD :

Volume 2, Book 21, Number 248:

Narrated Abu Salma bin 'Abdur Rahman:

I asked 'Aisha, "How is the Tahajjud prayer of Allah's Apostle during the month of Ramadan." She said, "Allah's Apostle never exceeded eleven Rakat in Ramadan or in other months; he used to offer four Rakat-- do not ask me about their beauty and length, then four Rakat, do not ask me about their beauty and length, and then three Rakat." Aisha further said, "I said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Do you sleep before offering the Witr prayer?' He replied, 'O 'Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart remains awake'!"

 Another Hadith says :

Whoever prays qiyaam in Ramadaan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer, because of the report narrated by Abu Dawood (1370) and others from the hadeeth of Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Salaat al-Taraaweeh, p. 15

Those people who pray salatul Taraweeh with Imams in Masjid will gain the reward of spending complete night in Prayer so it is not neccessary for them to offer Salatul Tahajjud. But if One offers Tahajjud prayer then he will definately earn extra reward.

SALATUL - DUHA :

From Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said:

'Whoever prays the morning prayer in congregation then sits remembering Allah until the sun rises, then prays two units of prayer has the reward like that of Hajj and `Umrah.'" He said, "Allah's Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: 'Complete, complete, complete (i.e. reward).'"

(Related by at-Tirmidhi (2/586), Takhreej Ahmad Shakir. `Abu `Isa (at-Tirmidhi) said: This hadeeth is hasan ghareeb. Shakir said in his verification: At-Tirmidhi declared it hasan, Saheeh al-Jaami` (6346).)

The reward of A Complete Umrah and Hajj SubhanAllah..!

"SUPPLICATIONS OF MORNING AND EVENING"

The Morning And Evening Supplications is an important part of Islam but unfortunately many people arent aware of it.

~Evidence from the Holy Qur'an

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Chapter on remembering Allah (dhikr) at the two ends of the day (as mentioned in Hud 11:114), which are the times between Fajr and sunrise, and between ‘Asr and Maghrib. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted) says:

“O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. And glorify His Praises morning and afternoon” [al-Ahzaab 33:41-42]. The “afternoon”: al-Jawhari said: This is the time after ‘Asr until Maghrib. And Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “and glorify the praises of your Lord in the ‘Ashiy (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkaar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon)” [Ghaafir 40:55].

The ibkaar is the beginning of the day and the ‘ashiy is the end of the day. And Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting” [Ta-Ha 20:130].

~ Evidence From Hadith:

Anas (RA) said that he heard the Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) say: "That I sit with people remembering Almighty Allah from the morning (Fajr) prayer until sunrise is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from among the Children of Isma'il. That I sit with people remembering Allah from the afternoon ('Asr) prayer until the sun sets is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves from among the Children of Isma'il." This was reported by Abu Dawud (no. 3667). Al-Albani graded it good in SahihAbu Dawud 2/698.

All these Supplications have great rewards and are mentioned in the Saheehah As Sittah !! Refer these links if you wish to learn these Duas or buy a book named "Hisnul Muslim" which is easily available in the Islamic Book Stores.

~GOING EARLY FOR PRAYERS IN MASJID:

By coming early for prayer in congregation you will earn the reward of waiting for the prayer and of staying in the mosque, and the du’aa’ of the angels. Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When he enters the mosque, he is in a state of prayer so long as the prayer is what is keeping him there, and the angels send blessings on any one of you so long as he remains in the place where he prayed, saying, ‘O Allaah, forgive him, O Allaah, have mercy on him…’” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (477) and Muslim (649).

It also brings the virtue of praying in the first row, and of saying Ameen with the imam. It says in the saheeh hadeeth: “When the imam says ‘Ameen’ then say ‘Ameen,’ for if a person’s saying Ameen coincides with that of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (780) and Muslim (410).

~ GENEROSITY :

GIVING IFTAR :

It was narrated that Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” [Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Maajah, 1746. Classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibaan, 8/216 and by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6415]

Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] said: “What is meant by giving him iftaar is giving him enough to satisfy him.” Al-Ikhtiyaaraat, p. 194

The righteous salaf were keen to provide food for others and they thought that this was one of the best of righteous deeds.

One of the salaf said: “For me to invite ten of my companions and feed them food that they like is dearer to me than freeing ten of the sons of Ismaa’eel from slavery.”

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most generous of the people and he was even more generous during the month of Ramadan when Gabriel visited him. Gabriel, upon him be peace, would meet with him every night of Ramadan until the end of the month and the Prophet would recite the Quran to Gabriel. When Gabriel met him, he would be more generous than a swift wind bringing rain.

Spend on poor for the Sake of Allah in Ramadan.

 ~ EATING SUHOOR :

Sayyidunah Ibn Umar (radiallah anhu) narrated:

إن الله وملائكته يصلون على المتسحرين

"Certainly Allaah and his Angels send blessings upon those who eat Suhoor"

[Authenticated by Shaykh Albaani in Silsilah al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah (3409)]

~ SUPPLICATING AT THE TIME OF IFTAR :

The Prophet (SAW) said, “The supplications of three persons are not rejected: the supplication of a fasting person at the time of breaking fast, of a just ruler, and of a person who is wronged. Allah causes their supplications to rise above the clouds, and gates of heaven are opened for them, and Allah says, ‘By My Majesty, I will help you, even it be after a while’.” (Ibn Hibban, Ahmed, Tirmidhee)

~ ZAKAH:

You who believe! Give away some of what We have provided for you before a Day arrives on which there is no trading, no close friendship and no intercession... (Surat Al-Baqara, 254)

"If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him; these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them. Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment is pronounced among servants." (Sahih Muslim, Book 005, Number 2161)

Paying Zakah is an important Attribute in Ramadan.

~ FITRANA/ SADAQATUL FITR

“Narrated Ibn Umar (RA): Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) has made the payment of Sadaqat-ul-Fitrobligatory, either one Sa’ of barley or one Sa’ of dates (per head) on young and old people and on free men as on slaves.”

(Hadith No. 1512, Book of Zakat, Sahih Bukhari, Vol.2).

 1) Sadaqat-ul-fitr is an obligation for every Muslim, male or female, who owns 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent, either in the form of money, ornaments, stock-in-trade, or in the form of some goods or commodities beyond one's normal needs. If a person has some minor children, the same amount has to be paid on behalf of each one of them separately

2) The prescribed amount of Sadaqat-ul-fitr is 1.75 Kilograms of wheat or its value in money.

3) Sadaqat-ul-fitr is obligated on each adult male or female separately, and the relevant adult person himself is responsible to pay it. The husband is not required to pay Sadaqat-ul-fitr on behalf of his wife nor is the wife supposed to pay it on behalf of her husband.

4) It is a Sunnah that the Sadaqat-ul-fitr is paid before performing the 'Eid prayer. It can also be paid before the 'Eid day, but it is not advisable to delay it up to the performance of'Eid prayer

5) Sadaqat-ul-fitr should be paid only to a person who is entitled to receive Zakah.

May Allah give us the tawfiq to make the most of this Month And May Allah Accept from us Ameen Suma Ameen.
